Alayna & Krystal’s Knitting Classes at Knittin’ Pretty Survey

Sat, Mar 14, 2009

ball-of-yarnjpgMy friend and soon-to-be colleague Krystal and I will be teaching a variety of different knitting classes in Woodland, CA at Knittin’ Pretty Yarn Shop (website for this business to come, via me).

Before we decide what classes to teach the first time around, we have decided that we want to know what classes people would actually be interested in taking. Therefore, a survey!

We created a survey for anyone and everyone to take. Just click on the following link to take the survey.

Quick Announcement, and more

Thu, Mar 12, 2009

So, I’ve busy, as usual. Let’s see, what’s happened since I las posted?

My shoulder injury has prevented me from working as a lifeguard (no more of that).

I dyed my hair. It’s now a pretty brown, instead of a silly half light brown, half blond.

I’ll be teaching knitting classes at the LYS: Knittin’ Pretty. My mischievous accomplice is none other than Krystal from Not Another UFO. (more info about the classes to come)

Also, I finished knitting my baby set, which consists of a sweater, socks, and a cap. And, finally, I have pictures:

Oh, and here’s my new “motto:”

My Nana gave me a necklace that says this on it, and it’s absolutely be-a-u-ti-ful!
Here’s a picture of it. It’s sterling silver, though it looks gold in this.

Hope all is well in the world of knitting.

B-day, Plus

Mon, Mar 02, 2009

Alright, what have I been doing since Feb. 17?

Well, Feb. 25 was my birthday. I turned 20 (no more teen years for this girl), but, as is to be expected, I don’t feel any different. I still feel like the Alayna McCabe I’ve been for over 20 years. But it was a pretty nice day. I got the day off from work, but was also cleaning my old apartment. That night, Dustin and I had a nice little dinner together: sushi, French bread and sliced turkey; then we watched The Love Guru, which is the funniest movie I’ve seen in a while.

Since then, I’ve been slowly moving things out of my office so my friend Sami can move in.

In knitting news:

I made a bright orange baby sweater using Caron Simply Soft Brites, Mango colorway. I made matching socks (they’re sooo tiny!) and am nearly finished with a matching baby cap. Once I’m completely done with the set, I’ll be posting all the info on Ravelry. After doing that, I’ll post the info here. I may do this all tomorrow since Sami is working for me on Tuesdays and Thursdays now.

Well, I hope all is well out in the world.

M.I.A.

Tue, Feb 17, 2009

It seems I’ve been missing in action for a while.  -sorry about that.

I’ve just been so busy still getting settled into my new house,
and working my two jobs,
and studying/actually attending class,
and juggling myself around Dustin’s crazy schedule…

And, somehow, I’ve found bits of time to actually do some knitting.
Of course, when I say “some knitting” I mean very little knitting…and when I say “very little knitting” I mean barely any knitting. But, I’ve decided that the little I’ve gotten done is enough to make me happy.

I’ve been working on a Pinwheel Blanket. It’s cute so far, but it’s getting kind of cramped on the very short cable I have.

Oh, I’ve been wanting to tell you all about my Valentine’s day, so I finally will:
When D and I woke up, I had already set up his V-day gift, a scavenger hunt. It was fun watching him read clues, think really, really hard then finally figure it out. And the great thing was that he loved it. And he loved all the little gifts. But I think he loved to big gift: ME!

Now, I bet you’re wondering, what did he get me? Well, he got me a car (which he’s fixing up, yay!). It’s white Mitsubishi Montero Sport and it’s really nice. He also got me a CO2 pistol with hollow pellets. I’ve been bugging him about teaching me to shoot, so he’s doing so with something that won’t necessarily kill, but hurt a whole lot. Of course, I don’t plan on ever shooting ANYONE with that thing, just targets and beer cars lol.

Ok, here’s the kicker: my birthday is a week from tomorrow (so, for those who don’t want to think, February 25). And D said that he’s still not done giving me gifts. I totally thought the car and pistol were my V/b-day gifts, but, nope! That’s not all. I’m so wondering what that crazy boy has brewing in his mind. I’ll find out soon enough and let you all know then.

So, just so you all know, my knitting is currently on the back-burner because of everything else going on, but I’m still keeping up with it, don’t worry. And I’ll try to keep up with this thing here more, but that’ll be a wee-bit too much if I try to keep up too much.

Well, peace out everyone! (sorry, I’ve been wanting to say that lol)
